
Carter Furr is a Shareholder and Portfolio Manager, in charge of the firm’s alternative investments platform. He serves on the Chief Investment Officer committee, where he is responsible for Signature’s asset allocation and risk management, and leads the firm’s efforts in manager sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management. Carter additionally advises Signature’s client families, foundations, and institutional investors.
Prior to joining Signature in 2002, Carter spent seven years with Bank of America as a relationship manager and vice president in the Private Bank group. Named one of Norfolk's Top 40 Under 40 in 2002 by Inside Business in Norfolk, Carter has served on the boards of the American Red Cross, the Norfolk Academy Alumni Association, and as a trustee of Westminster Canterbury.
Carter received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hampden-Sydney College and is a graduate of the LEAD Hampton Roads program. He is married with three children, and can be found on lacrosse, soccer, and football fields, tennis courts, or at the swimming pool or beach, where he cheers, coaches, and enjoys youth athletics.
