
Anne B. Shumadine is the Chairman and a Founder of Signature. In addition to leading the firm and working with clients on a daily basis, Anne is recognized as a leader in the Hampton Roads business community. She has been honored, nationally and across Virginia, as an outstanding legal and professional professional, and as an accomplished advisor to families of wealth.
Anne is active in the business community in Hampton Roads and serves on the board of numerous non-profit institutions. Currently she is a Trustee and Chair of the investment committee at Virginia Wesleyan College. She is also a member of the Board of Visitors, the governing board of Eastern Virginia Medical School. Here Anne served as Secretary and became Vice Rector in July 2011. Anne recently joined the Board of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Anne’s past associations include a former Rectorship on the Board of Visitors of Old Dominion University, where she is currently a member of the ODU Educational Foundation. She is also former President and Chairman of the Board of the ACCESS College Foundation, a former Trustee of the Chrysler Museum of Art, and a past member of the Business Leadership Council of Wellesley College.
In 2011 Anne received the Citizen Lawyer award from the William & Mary School of Law, and was recognized by LEAD Hampton Roads with its Visionary Award for business leaders.
Anne is a graduate of Wellesley College and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary.
In her spare time Anne enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband and family, which includes three grandchildren. Anne is fond of travel and cites a 2010 trip to China as her favorite, creating a book afterward to summarize the experience.
